Event Description:

The Newport Symphony Orchestra at the Ocean conducted by Adam Flatt performs Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, Tchaikovsky’s suite from Swan Lake, and the world premiere of a new work commissioned by the NSO in tribute to David Ogden Stiers.

Maestro Flatt writes, “Our dear friend David Ogden Stiers admired Mark Fish, with whom he had a close personal and artistic friendship. We had already asked Mark to create music for our 30th anniversary season before David's passing. But upon our loss of David, it became clear that Mark's new piece would need to honor David. So, like a family sharing reminiscences, let us enjoy Mark's new work.”

There will be a pre-concert talk with Maestro Flatt and Mark Fish at 6:45pm, Saturday night only. Join the NSO musicians, and conductor after the concert for a reception hosted by Flying Dutchman Winery.

The NSO 2018-19 Season is presented by Georgia-Pacific.
